- Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (USA)
The CDC is recognized as the
lead federal agency for protecting the health and safety of people - at
home and abroad, providing credible information to enhance health
decisions, and promoting health through strong partnerships. CDC serves
as the national focus for developing and applying disease prevention
and control, environmental health, and health promotion and education
activities designed to improve the health of the people of the United
States.
- CSB
- United States Chemical Safety and Hazard Investigation Board
The mission of the CSB is to
promote the prevention of major chemical accidents at fixed facilities.
The CSB conducts research, advises industry and labor on actions they
should take to improve safety, and makes recommendations to local,
federal, and state agencies such as the U.S. Environmental Protection
Agency (EPA) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration
(OSHA) at the U.S. Department of Labor, the key federal entities
regulating industries that use chemicals. As set forth in our strategic
plan, the target date to achieve full operational status is fiscal year
2005.

- Institute of Hygiene and Applied Physiology (ETH Zürich,
Switzerland)
Key issues of the research are
software ergonomics, noise and vibration, visual phenomena or indoor
air quality. The Institute offers post graduate and other courses
together with other partners, for instance in the area of work and
health and eye optics.

ILO-CIS - International Occupational
Safety and Health Information Centre
CIS is a unit of the
International Labour Office (ILO) in Geneva, Switzerland. The major
objective of CIS is to be a worldwide service dedicated to the
collection and dissemination of information on the prevention of
occupational accidents and diseases.
- NIOSH
- National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (USA)
The NIOSH is the Federal agency
responsible for conducting research and making recommendations for the
prevention of work-related disease and injury. The Institute is part of
the
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
- OSHA
- Occupational Safety and Health Administration (USA)
OSHA establishes protective
standards, enforces those standards, and reaches out to employers and
employees through technical assistance and consultation programs.
Workplace inspections are one of OSHA's principal activities.

- Centre for Technology Assessment
The team at the TA-SWISS has
targeted the objective of transmitting independent information on the
potential, the risks, and the repercussions of new technologies, and of
dealing with the issues emerging from them in as broad a scope as
possible. The creation of a constructive dialogue between the public
and the scientific community is also one of the tasks which the Centre
for Technology Assessment has taken on through the implementation and
development of participative methods. TA-SWISS thereby provides the
public and the political authorities with high-quality and unbiased
information.
- USACHPPM
- US Army Center for Health Promotion and Preventive Medicine
USACHPPM's mission is to
provide worldwide technical support for implementing preventive
medicine, public health, and health promotion/wellness services into
all aspects of America's Army and the Army Community anticipating and
rapidly responding to operational needs and adaptable to a changing
world environment.
