OVF / UFV / FVO - Swiss
Federal Veterinary Office
Although animal health and
welfare are the focus of the activities of the FVO, these activities
also benefit humans. The federal constitution, its laws and
regulations, and various international treaties constitute the
foundation for the mandate of the FVO. Implementation of these texts
rests with the cantons; however, the FVO provides support to the
cantons through active communication, a steady flow of information and
through continued education programmes. The federal authorities
regulate conditions for import of animals and food, and provide border
control for such imports. They are responsible for the control and
licensing of establishments that export animal products, while the
cantons are responsible for certification of exports of live animals.
The Federal Veterinary Office collaborates with experts of other
governmental bodies and international organisations to coordinate
veterinary and public health matters, as well as species conservation.

aktuellen
Ozon-Werte in der Schweiz
Im Auftrag des BAFU
erstellt METEOTEST

- EPA
- Environmental Protection Agency (USA)
EPA provides leadership in the
US's environmental science, research, education and assessment efforts.
EPA is responsible for researching and setting national standards for a
variety of environmental programs and delegates to states and tribes
responsibility for issuing permits, and monitoring and enforcing
compliance. Where national standards are not met, EPA can issue
sanctions and take other steps to assist the states and tribes in
reaching the desired levels of environmental quality. The Agency also
works with industries and all levels of government in a wide variety of
voluntary pollution prevention programs and energy conservation
efforts.
- NORMAN
- Network of Laboratories for Monitoring of Emerging Environmental
Pollutants
The NORMAN project is funded
under the 6th Framework Programme. The objective is to establish a
European network of reference laboratories, research centres and
related organisations in order to:
- improve the exchange of information on emerging
environmental contaminants
- encourage the validation and harmonisation of
common measurement methods and monitoring tools so that the demands of
risk assessors and risk managers can be better met.
- As a source of information on emerging
environmental substances NORMAN will help to keep you informed about
the state of the monitoring, risk assessment and management of emerging
substances and specific problems relating to them.
- NEPIS
- EPA's National Environmental Publications Information System (USA)
- IAEAC
- International Association of Environmental Analytical Chemistry
The IAEAC supports a regular
exchange of scientific imformation between experts in the areas of
analytical chemistry, ecotoxicology, environmental chemistry, risk
assessment and related areas.
